THE LITTLE THINGS
HOW TO PREPARE FOR PICTURE DAY
Give Them a Hug
Tell them they’re perfect exactly as they are and that you’re happy to have a photograph to remember them at this age. Skip the smile coaching. We’ll take it from there.
Hair Plan
Think ahead about the haircut or hairstyle you’ll be happiest remembering. Choose something that can comfortably make it through the morning and still feel like them when they reach the camera.
What to Wear
Follow your school’s uniform guidelines, then choose something fresh, neat and comfortable that still feels like them.
And leave the little things to us.
We’re watching for turned collars, stray hairs, twisted necklaces, posture, and the details we can reasonably adjust. We’ll make thoughtful adjustments where needed, and let the rest be part of the memory of who they are that day.
THINKING ABOUT A RETAKE?
When a retake day is offered, your child is welcome to be photographed again. Just keep one important thing in mind:
Retake images replace the original Picture Day images.
A retake is a fresh start, not a second set of photographs to choose from.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes. Families will have an opportunity to view their child’s images before deciding what they would like to purchase. You will also select your preferred yearbook image from the gallery during the selection period.
No. AdvancePay is available for families who would like to take advantage of savings offered in advance, but you do not need to purchase photographs before seeing them.
When your gallery is ready, you’ll receive information from your school and/or Little’s explaining how to access it. You can also return to this page anytime and use Picture Day & Images to find your gallery.
PhotoDay is the secure online platform Little’s uses to deliver school galleries and process school picture orders. Little’s Photography is your photography studio; PhotoDay is simply the technology that helps us deliver your images and ordering experience.
This varies from school to school. Families may receive Picture Day information by email and/or text, along with communication directly from the school. This page will always be available as your home base for dates, images and important information.
Please follow your school’s uniform or Picture Day guidelines. Choose something your child feels good in and that looks fresh and neat. A favorite newer shirt or outfit is often a great choice. Before they head out the door, take a quick look for stains, fading, wrinkles, stretched collars or noticeable wear.
Most importantly, choose something that still feels like them.
When a retake/make-up day is offered, students who missed the original Picture Day may be photographed then. Retake/make-up dates are listed on this page when available.
Images are typically available approximately three weeks after Picture Day. Timing may vary by school or event. Once the gallery is ready, the Picture Day & Images section on this page will provide access.
AdvancePay allows families to place a credit toward their future order before the gallery is released. Any AdvancePay savings or incentives will be explained in your Picture Day communication. Once the images are available, you can view them before deciding how you would like to use your credit.
If you have an AdvancePay credit and decide you do not wish to place an order after viewing your images, please use the Help Form on this page so our team can assist you with your specific order.
We offer a wide range of options for different needs and budgets. Available prints, products, digital images and packages will be displayed directly in your child’s gallery once the images are ready to order.
Yes. When digital images are offered as part of your school’s photography program, the available options will appear directly in your child’s gallery.
Yes. When multiple poses are available in your child’s gallery, you may purchase different poses and are not limited to choosing only the image selected for the yearbook.
Sibling photographs are available at some schools. Because Picture Day schedules and programs vary, the opportunity for siblings to be photographed together is determined in partnership with each school. If sibling photographs are offered at your school, that information will be included with your school’s Picture Day communication.
Orders are shipped directly to the address you provide when placing your order, unless otherwise specified for your school’s program.
Yes. PhotoDay galleries can be accessed from a phone, tablet or computer.
You do not need to find the original email. Return to the Picture Day & Images section of this page and select the appropriate gallery.
Use the Help Form and tell us your child’s name, school and grade. Our team will help you locate the correct gallery or images.
Please contact Little’s rather than your school for questions about photographs, galleries or orders. Use the Help Form so your question can go directly to the right person on our team.
When a retake day is offered, your child is welcome to be photographed again. There is one important thing to understand before choosing a retake:
The new images automatically replace the original Picture Day images.
A retake is a fresh start rather than a second set of photographs to choose from. If your child simply has a different expression than you expected, remember that expressions are part of who they are at this age. If you feel another photograph is the right choice, we’ll be happy to see them on Retake Day.
Please use the Help Form and let us know what happened. If there is a problem with the quality of your finished order, our team will review it and help determine the appropriate solution.
Every school portrait receives our Standard Finishing at no additional charge, including reducing facial shine and eyeglass glare while keeping students looking natural and like themselves.
Families who would like additional retouching may purchase Enhanced Retouching through PhotoDay when ordering. This includes skin smoothing, blemish and acne removal, evening skin tone, and limited flyaway-hair cleanup.
For something more specific that falls outside of standard or enhanced retouching, such as repairing a chipped tooth or removing shadows caused by eyeglasses, Custom Studio Retouching may be available by request. These changes require us to manually remove the image from our automated school workflow, individually retouch it through our portrait studio, and then return the finished image to the school system. Because of the additional hands-on production involved, Custom Studio Retouching is $89 per image.
If you need Custom Studio Retouching, please use the Help Form and tell us what you would like adjusted.
Your gallery remains active for ordering for 90 days after image delivery. After 90 days, a small reactivation fee may apply. If your gallery has expired, use the Help Form and we’ll guide you through the process.
When your gallery is released, you’ll have an opportunity to select the image you prefer for the yearbook. Your yearbook selection must be made within the selection period provided for your school.
If you do not make a selection by the deadline, an appropriate yearbook image will be selected for you so that the school receives its yearbook files on time.
For step-by-step instructions, see the PhotoDay Yearbook Selection Walkthrough.
We often provide families with a variety of images to choose from for their personal photographs and memories. Yearbook selections, however, must meet the requirements established by your school.
Additional poses may be available for purchase even when they are not appropriate for yearbook use. Each school reserves the right to replace a selection that does not conform to its yearbook guidelines or design.
Questions about your child’s school schedule, grade assignment or when a particular group is being photographed should be directed to your school. Questions about photography, galleries, ordering or your finished photographs should be sent to Little’s through the Help Form.
Faculty and staff photographs are handled according to each school’s photography program. Information about accessing staff photographs and any benefits offered specifically to faculty or staff will be communicated directly through the school.
GOOD TO KNOW
When families are invited to select a preferred yearbook image, selections remain subject to the school’s yearbook requirements and final approval. If a selected image does not meet those requirements, an appropriate image may be selected in its place.
Little’s follows the photography and yearbook guidelines established with each school. Because those requirements vary, backgrounds, clothing guidelines, yearbook crops, pose options, retake procedures and other details may differ from school to school.
Photography backgrounds are selected in collaboration with the school to meet its photography and yearbook needs.
Yearbook portraits may have specific requirements for cropping, head size, background, clothing or pose so the finished yearbook remains consistent from student to student.
Your yearbook selection deadline and your gallery ordering period are two different things.
Yearbook Selection: Families have a limited period to choose their preferred yearbook image so Little’s can deliver the completed yearbook files to the school on schedule. If no selection is made by the deadline, an appropriate image will be selected automatically.
Gallery Ordering: Your gallery remains available for purchases for 90 days after image delivery. This means your yearbook selection deadline may pass while your gallery is still available for ordering.
We recommend making your yearbook selection promptly and completing purchases or digital downloads while your gallery is active.
Little’s works with each school to build a photography program around that school’s needs and agreement with us. Some schools ask us to photograph additional events, grade-level milestones or experiences throughout the year, while others use Little’s for a more focused photography program.
What you see offered on your school’s page reflects the photography program created specifically for your school.
